Stephen Wolfram a San Rossore – Wolfram Alpha invenzione del futuro
“Viviamo un momento interessante della nostra storia scientifica, proprio come quello che viveva Galileo. Come lui guardava attraverso il suo cannocchiale scenari dello spazio mai esplorati, noi oggi possiamo osservare attraverso il computer uno sconosciuto universo computazionale, lo spazio astratto creato dall’informatica”
Sono queste le parole pronunciate da Stephen Wolfram, una figura importante della Wolfram Research, presente ieri come figura di spicco nel meeting di San Rossore. Wolfram sostiene che il mondo virtuale altro non è che una rappresentazione del mondo reale, tutto l’ universo fisico è quindi rintracciabile in quello computazione, e non solo.. i due universi possono interagire
“Stiamo imparando che possiamo andare oltre il paradigma classico che per conoscere universi complicati dobbiamo ricorrere a regole complicate. La novita’, grazie all’informatica, risiede in un nuovo paradigma: si arriva a costruzioni molto complesse a partire da regole molto semplici – ha aggiunto nel suo contributo Wolfram – e possiamo riunire queste stesse costruzioni in banche dati capaci di fornire risposte alle necessita’ di una conoscenza globale. Questo e’ quanto ha cominciato a fare WolframAlpha, un sito libero che e’ nato per accumulare conoscenza, per proporsi come un nuovo paradigma capace di incapsulare tutto il sapere per rispondere ad ogni domanda”
In effetti queste parole fanno un pò paura.. che vuol dire rispondere ad ogni domanda?? Quali sono i limiti della conoscenza da parte di un calcolatore? E’ veramente possibile ricreare questa sorta di intelligenza artificiale?
Il motore proposto, Wolfram Alpha, è un motore di ricerca difatti particolare… non stò a dilungarmi sui dettagli, ma quando voi inserite una domanda non và a cercare dei siti dove voi poi andate a cercare una risposta, ma fà di più… la risposta ve la fornisce lui!
